The overall tour route spans approximately 3.5 kilometers, linking five major thematic zones and 27 immersive scenes, allowing visitors to experience a flowing Jiangnan poetic scroll amidst forests, lake shores, pavilions, and water features.
Shenzhen AOSHOW Optoelectronic Technology Co., Ltd. (AOSHOW) participated in supplying lighting equipment for the project, providing AS-SDMX master controllers, AS-832M sub‑controllers, DMX512 wall washers, LED tree‑spotlights, pathway in-ground lights, and LED linear lights, while also assisting with on-site lighting commissioning to offer professional technical support for nighttime landscape illumination and lighting control at the scenic area.
I. Project Background: Turning Natural Landscapes into an Immersive Performance Stage
Nanbei Lake is located in Hanpu Town, Haiyan County, Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province, renowned for its harmonious blend of lakes, forests, coastline, and Jiangnan人文 landscapes.
"Han Chuan Poetry Dream" was jointly created by relevant units of the Nanbei Lake Scenic Area and Hongbang Culture, drawing inspiration from Hanpu's historical culture and Eastern aesthetics. Employing forms such as immersive performances, digital light and shadow, and scene interaction, the production guides visitors along the tour route to gradually enter different cultural narrative spaces.
The entire work is divided into five major thematic zones: Elegant Gatherings of Worthies, Rise and Fall of Sun and Moon, Witch Gate and Fishermen's Flute, Misty Rain over Lakes, and Fragrant Melodies by Water.
These large-scale cultural tourism night tour projects differ from ordinary architectural lighting. Beyond meeting landscape illumination needs, the lighting must coordinate with performance content, the natural environment, and visitor flow paths, creating appropriate color tones, brightness levels, and visual layers across various spaces.
The landscape luminaires and intelligent control equipment provided by AOSHOW offered product support for lighting presentation and lighting commissioning in the project’s relevant areas.
II. Six Major Lighting Highlights: Constructing a Night Tour Landscape Rich in Jiangnan Poetry
1. LED Tree-Spotlights: Creating Layered Mountain and Forest Light and Shadow
Nanbei Lake boasts abundant trees and forested landscapes.
LED tree-spotlights use directional illumination to emphasize trunks, branches, leaves, and the contours of natural spaces, giving the nocturnal forest a visual layering distinct from daytime views.
Properly setting beam direction, brightness, and color helps form a soft, deeply textured woodland environment, blending natural scenery with artistic ambiance.
2. DMX512 Wall Washers: Highlighting the Visual Silhouettes of Traditional Architecture
The cultural scenes of "Han Chuan Poetry Dream" are closely linked to traditional Jiangnan architecture, pavilions, and landscape structures.
DMX512 wall washers can strengthen building facades, wall textures, and spatial structures through controlled lighting, with color or brightness adjusted according to actual luminaire channel configurations.
In nighttime tour settings, architectural lighting should avoid overshadowing the visual focus of the performance itself, ensuring harmony between the lights and the poetic, picturesque theme.
3. LED Linear Lights: Outlining Shores and Spatial Structures
Linear lights are suitable for railings, platforms, building outlines, and landscape structures.
Continuous illuminated lines can emphasize spatial boundaries and enhance the sense of extension in lakeside landscapes.
When the lighting visually echoes the natural water surface, it further enriches the layering of the waterfront space, allowing visitors to experience a more poetic nocturnal landscape as they move through.
4. In-ground Lights: Balancing Nighttime Ambience with Path Lighting
Large-scale immersive nighttime tour projects must prioritize the visitor's walking experience.
AOSHOW’s in-ground pathway lights can be used for ground-level landscape illumination and localized wayfinding, tailored to the specific design.
During installation, factors such as beam direction, glare control, mounting strength, and environmental protection should be carefully considered to align aesthetic effects with nighttime touring needs.
Pathway luminaires are part of the overall nighttime lighting scheme and should not replace a comprehensive safety lighting plan for the scenic area.
5. Intelligent Zonal Control: Adapting to Different Thematic Atmospheres
"Han Chuan Poetry Dream" comprises five major thematic zones, each featuring distinct cultural content and light-and-shadow atmospheres.
AOSHOW’s AS-SDMX master controller and AS-832M sub-controller can manage compatible LED digital lights and output signals according to system configuration.
Through thoughtful planning of control zones, device addresses, and lighting programs, the lighting system can better serve the visual requirements of different scenes.
6. Integration of Live Performances and Landscape Lighting: Creating a Seamless Night Tour Experience
"Han Chuan Poetry Dream" combines live performances, projections, music, and landscape lighting to create an artistic journey along the entire tour route.
In such integrated performance spaces, landscape lighting must work in concert with the show to set the mood.
Spotlighting of mountains and forests, wall-washing of buildings, linear lighting, and pathway illumination each play their part, providing visitors with a more cohesive spatial experience as they transition from one scene to the next.
AOSHOW’s coordinated landscape luminaires and control equipment demonstrate the practical value of professional LED products across diverse cultural and tourism lighting environments.
III. Core Technology: AS-SDMX Master Controller and AS-832M Sub-controller System
Lighting projects for cultural and tourism scenic areas typically involve various types of luminaires, different control protocols, and widely dispersed installation zones.
The AS-SDMX master controller and AS-832M slave controllers provided by AOSHOW are control devices designed for corresponding digital LED systems.
AS-SDMX Master Controller: Supports compatible master-slave control and program management modes, capable of performing corresponding control tasks based on system configuration.
AS-832M Slave Controller: Equipped with eight digital pixel output interfaces, suitable for compatible SPI digital LED luminaires; ports and pixel assignments can be configured according to project requirements.
DMX512 wall-washing lights: Receive control signals according to the channel functions of specific models to achieve corresponding lighting effects.
LED tree uplights, in-ground lights, and strip lights: Configured according to their respective electrical and control specifications for use in different landscape lighting locations.
It should be noted that the SPI pixel outputs of the AS-832M cannot directly replace DMX512 luminaire interfaces. Actual projects should configure compatible control links based on luminaire drive methods.
Through proper matching of luminaires and control systems, stable and flexible lighting support is provided for nighttime tour projects.
IV. Project Implementation: Technical Challenges in Mountain–Water Scenic Environments
The engineering environment of Nanbei Lake includes mountain forests, lake shores, visitor trails, and various architectural landscapes.
Outdoor lighting projects must simultaneously consider visual effects, equipment reliability, and ease of maintenance.
Luminaire beam angles: Adjust beams according to trees, buildings, and visitor sightlines to reduce glare and unnecessary light spill.
Control signal compatibility: Verify interfaces, addresses, and signal responses among master controllers, slave controllers, and various luminaires to ensure normal operation of related equipment.
Brightness and color coordination: Lighting effects at different locations need to adapt to both the natural environment and performance atmosphere, avoiding excessive local brightness that could detract from the overall viewing experience.
Outdoor installation protection: Consider site conditions carefully regarding power supply, waterproof wiring, mounting structures, and provisions for future maintenance.
AOSHOW supports project teams in applying relevant lighting equipment through product supply and on-site lighting commissioning technical assistance.
V. Project Outcomes: Bringing Jiangnan Culture to Vibrant Life in the Nighttime Setting
"Han Chuan Poetry Dream" integrates natural landscapes, historical culture, and digital light-and-shadow art into a continuous immersive nighttime tour experience.
